Discovery Channel, the network that brought you “The Alaska Experiment,” is currently
casting its next Alaskan adventure. If you think you have what it takes to live and thrive in one of nature?s most brutal environments, then we want to hear from you TODAY!
Our newest series raises the bar for our adventurers by sending them on an epic JOURNEY through the wild.
THE CHALLENGE -- if you dare to accept it -- is to join a band of
fellow explorers and journey through some of the harshest
climates and roughest terrains in the world: the Alaskan
wilderness. Both an epic quest and the ultimate test of courage,
this amazing journey will test its participants in ways they never
thought possible and, in the process, allow them to experience the
raw beauty of nature and see the world like they never have before.
Sound exhilarating? It will be! If you are ready to leave the
monotony of your day-to-day life behind and push yourself to the
limits, you can finally earn the right to say that you truly LIVED.
Email AlaskaProject@gmail.com and include a recent photo along
with your name, phone number, city/state, and a short explanation
of why you feel you are up to the challenge. You can also call 818-
752-5559 for more information.
Join us. We dare you!

I just applied, but I wonder, do people that are cast on reality shows get paid? I only ask because I don't know how I would pay the bills while gone. I don't know why I care, what are the chances an everyday joe like me would be chosen anyway?

Look like a scam to me...
The "I dare you" and the poor quality of the "Discovery channel" logo in the PDF let me think it's not professional.
If Discovery was really looking for people they will redirect you to them web site and the will not use a @gmail.com address. They would have use a @discovery.com address.

I called and got an answering machine that sounded legit, but I guess anyone could set that up.

I thought I would follow up with this. I received an email yesterday requesting a recent photo. It sounds legit....they haven't asked for my social security number or anything

The show is real. We at Gotcast.com are hosting the casting call and work directly with the Discovery Channel. I can assure you if you join the Alaska casting you will be viewed by Discovery staff.
If you guys have any questions please let me know.

well, I just looked at the casting website. I don't mean to be mr. negative, but it's a bunch of wanabee actors. If this is the type people they choose for the show it will suck. I have never been one to put it lightly, just calling it like I see it. Hopefully they will choose people who really have a passion for the outdoors and will appreciate this opportunity and provide us with insight to the Alaskan experience.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if they choose people who are average joes with no experience in the outdoors for the "entertainment factor", if they pick strictly beautiful people, or if they pick people who work in fields that give them different outdoor skill edges....
Should be interesting to see how it turns out. I may throw my name in the hat too.
