Sometime in June, I'm going backpacking with a group somewhere in Colorado's portion of the Rocky Mountains. We're supposed to be out for six days. I don't really know the details about the trip yet because my friend's dad is planning it. He's a school teacher and is busy with the typical end of year stuff right now. A trip report and tons of pictures will follow.
Have any of you been there? Any recommendations on getting prepared or gear you wished you had while there?

the most important thing is to start training now the altitude and inclines will really slow you down and can make you very sick. other than that a good set of clothing layer are very important the temp can change 50 degrees in a couple of hours and watch out for storms lightning kills a lot of people every year. I spend a lot of time backpacking I will add more when I have time

expect afternoon thunderstorms and start early- especially if you are going to be above tree line.

The town Estes Park is a great place to launch from, or to land for a few nights. Elk roam around and will just block traffic. Cool stuff.
